Chad Miller July 20, 2014 Overview of WebQuest: This WebQuest was designed to be used in American Government/Civics in a 9-12 grade computer lab setting. Prior to beginning this WebQuest, students should have a basic understanding of the criminal justice system and general research techniques. This WebQuest takes approximately two weeks to complete. Modifications may be needed depending on the students being covered. Consult the students IEP prior to modification. |
This WebQuest covers the following Georgia Performance Standards: American Government/Civics SSCG21 The student will describe the causes and effects of criminal activity. c. Categorize different types of crimes. d. Explain the different types of defenses used by perpetrators of crime. SSCG22 The student will demonstrate knowledge of the criminal justice process. a. Analyze the steps in the criminal justice process. b. Explain an individual’s due process rights. c. Describe the steps in a criminal trial or civil suit. d. Examine the different types of sentences a convicted person can receive. This WebQuest covers the following ISTE Nets-S standards: 1. Creativity and innovation - Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. 3. Research and information fluency - Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information. 4. Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making - Students use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources. 5. Digital citizenship - Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior. 6. Technology operations and concepts - Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. |
